Why don't I offer my services for free?
I believe that we are all traders—we exchange our goods and services with each other on a fair and voluntary basis.
If we were to take bread from a shop or receive free Italian language lessons without offering anything in return, it would be similar to taking water from the sea or utilizing wind or solar energy without any environmental impact. Over time, however, this practice would lead to a depletion of manufactured goods.
For example, if bread and Italian lessons are given away for free without any reciprocation, the baker will eventually run out of funds to buy flour, and the Italian teacher will struggle to pay his electricity bills.
As a result, both the baker and the teacher will have to stop their work. Ultimately, consumers will miss out on fresh bread and language lessons.
In a broader sense, treating manufactured goods as if they were gifts from nature will lead to the extinction of the production of goods that we all rely on.
